Nature's Solace is a cozy game with farming, taming, and interactive mechanics. After the devastating loss of his wife, Micah's world has turned gray. To heal, he must reconnect with nature at a remote cabin. Find solace in simple acts, such as catching bugs and feeding animals, and watch as color slowly returns to the world with every step forward.

Stress Meter and Dialogue

This was the early design for the stress meter and the dialogue boxes. The dialogue boxes were pretty much unchanged in the final version but the same can't be said for the stress meter. We realized a stress meter conflicted with the calming feeling we were going for in our game so instead we made it a spirit meter.  

Spirit Meter

The spirit meter in game raised as you connected with nature. Shifting the goal from keeping the meter empty to making it fill up over time fit the tone and mood of the game much better. As you fill the meter, color would slowly start to come back into the game. All the art I made myself and the inner bar changed colors dynamically depending on how full it was. I took care to make sure all UI fit our color scheme for the project.
